Landtech Soils Modular Green Walls

Landtech Soils Modular Green Walls was designed with efficiency in mind, the frames are fitted with a versatile ball and socket system and can therefore be connected to each other making assembly quick and easy. These connections can be used to create free standing, decorative vertical gardens that are perfect for indoor and outdoor environments, further more the Landtech Soils Urban Garden team will assess your wall space and have your fully planted green wall installed in the shortest time possible with the flowers that you want at €270 per square metre.

The Modular Technology

Our green walls utilise detachable angular planting pots that can be detached from the modular units themselves, this makes it simple to plan your flower arrangements into patterns, you can also have extra pots stored and planted for different seasonal flowers which will provide you with a green wall that will look vibrant all year round.

Automatic Irrigation System

No separate waterproof barrier layer is required as the unit sits 2" from the wall, this means that your wall is protected from collecting any moisture. Our living walls can come with a automatic irrigation system that will deliver a controlled quantity of water to you plants.

This irrigation system ensures that your plants are provided with the correct water requirements that they need to thrive through an adjustable nozzle that sits at the back of the flower pot. Due to this automatic irrigation system, our green walls do not waste any water and it will free up your time from watering the plants yourself.

Dynamic Flower Planning

Each plant grows in its own flower pot and has its own adjustable water supply, this allows for a wide range of plants to be planted in this unit, as such the owner is thus free in his/her choice of plants all year round. With this design, plants can easily be changed once they have finished flowering or when new colours, shapes and or sizes are required. This is achieved by planting seasonal in advance in separate pots that you have in storage.

Private Benefits

Improved Energy Efficiency

Research shows that green walls effects the temperature changes that occur on the surface of a wall. These range form 10ºC to 60ºC and 5ºC to 30ºC (Minke 1982). The reason for this is plants create a micro climate that effect the temperature by their water content in the plant material and the a barrier to the environment they create between the plant and the wall (shading). In colder months of the year green walls provide a shield form weather conditions like wind, rain and snow. In urban environments and building that use air conditioning units green walls can provide cooler air to be made available to the units intakes thus reducing their energy cost.

Building Structure Protection

A building will require maintenance form the effects of the environment has on it over time. A green wall or green roof can provide a barrier to these weather conditions and expand on the life of the materials used such as paint and timber etc. A building materials have a longer life cycle due to a green wall or green roofs protection and reduction of temperature changes on the buildings surface. (Peck et al. 1999).

Improved Indoor Air Quality

Through intelligent design and placement a green wall can provide an interior with a supply of fresh and clean air that has the aroma of flowers throughout the room or building. Furthermore the plants will filter the air if placed near an air vent allowing the plant to collect unwelcome air pollutants that would otherwise travel throughout the home or office.

Noise Reduction

  • Green walls will improves wall noise attenuation by up to 8dB in the interior.
  • Sustainable Drainage Systems scheme (SuDS)

Flooding in our cities and towns has been becoming more of an issue in recent years. With the introduction of Sustainable Drainage Systems scheme in Dublin and the UK (SuDS) Green Walls and Green Roofs will become more common feature in our urban landscape. Storm water in recent years has been putting a burden on our drainage facilities that it was not designed for.

Our urban greening solutions provide a extra defence against flooding. Urban greening solutions like green walls, green roofs and our CU-Soil takes the excess storm water that would have gone into the current drainage facilities and utilise it to grow vegetation, evaporate or with our CU-Soil that can create a reservoir which allows water to soak into the subsoil over time.

Marketing Impressions

A green wall or green roof can contribute to promoting your positioning statement to your target market. A green roof or wall can be used to promote your green message and is ideal for companies that are in the hospitality, entertainment or the Eco-Friendly automotive industries plus many more. A green wall or roof can provide you with a competitive advantage from the competition and allows your brands positioning statement of a clean environment to be placed firmly in the mind of the consumer more effectively.

Increased Biodiversity

With more and more development ongoing in our towns and cities there are less areas for native fauna and flora to make a home. A green wall or roof can provide food for butterflies and others important creatures. Birds can have access to nesting material from green roofs and insects to nectar.

Improved Health and Well-Being

More and more studies have been ongoing to answer the question of how urban green areas effect us physically and psychologically for example an English longevity study of 10,000 participants was undertaken to explore the self-reported psychological health of individuals over time and the relationship between urban green space, well being and mental distress. (Mathew P. White, et al.2013). This research shows that Urban Greening provides people with the areas they need to recharge and become revitalized to preform better in their lives and there work life.
Herb Vertical Garden

To utilise space in an urban environment is essential to overcome the challenges of providing fresh produce to the dinner table in cafés, restaurants or at home. A green wall can provide a means to grow food such as herbs, fruit and certain suitable species of vegetables in a vertical wall space.

Public Benefits

Mitigation of the Urban Heat Island Effect

In today's urban environment cities and towns have been reducing more and more of the vegetation layer that provides these areas the ability to regulate the levels of heat that gets produced by the sun. Without this layer the suns rays and heat get reflected by the concrete and can cause damage to local property and force energy expenses to increase. By introducing green walls and green roofs to the urban environment it will promote natural cooling by photosynthesis and water evaporation and greatly reduce storm water run-off created by our wet weather conditions here in the west of Europe.

“Air movement along vertical heated surfaces is even greater than over horizontal
surfaces. With strategic placement of vertical gardens, plants can create enough
turbulence to break vertical air flow which cools the air at the same time it slows it down
By changing wind energy into kinetic and heat energy, planted surfaces can also have a
significant impact on local wind patterns - thereby reducing the detrimental effects of wind on a building.” (E. Kuhn and Bass et al., 1999, p. 18,40)

Sustainable Drainage Systems scheme (SuDS)

Flooding in our cities and towns has been becoming more of an issue in recent years. With the introduction of Sustainable Drainage Systems scheme in Dublin and the UK (SuDS) Green Walls and Green Roofs will become more common feature in our urban landscape. Economy

In today’s economy the creation of jobs is a major factor for the development of Ireland’s exit out of the recession. Indeed job creation is also a major factor for the UK government. This means new opportunities for companies like Landtech Soils, landscape architects, architects, landscape and irrigation consultants to meet the demand that urban greening will have in our present and future city and town planning. Landtech Soils can supply, implement and maintain all of our urban greening solutions.

Aesthetic Improvement

A Green Wall can provide you with the means to utilise a vertical space that property owners may not have thought of using otherwise. By creating a living wall indoors or a green wall externally you can create a aesthetic space that will provide you with privacy and a sense of security. A green wall can provide a spaces where urban boundaries can be hidden from view providing psychological benefits in relaxation and peace of mind.

Benefits to Air Quality

Green walls capture dust particles and other fine air pollutants that are created by people and vehicle traffic. During daylight hours plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen this provides the area with clean fresh air for people to breathe.
